Reagan’s Bar Mitzvah: A Meaningful Celebration of Tradition, Family & Unforgettable Moments.

A family posing together in elegant attire for a bar mitzvah celebration, standing in front of a stylish building entrance.

There are some nights you wish you could bottle up forever — the kind that leave you smiling days later, replaying little moments in your mind, wanting to live them all over again. Reagan’s bar mitzvah was exactly that kind of night. Blending modern elegance with a sleek black-and-white theme and his own custom-designed logo, the celebration reflected not just a milestone, but who Reagan is: creative, thoughtful, confident, and uniquely himself.

A young boy in a formal outfit smiles confidently while holding a prayer book in a synagogue interior, with flags and modern architecture in the background.

A Ceremony Rooted in Meaning

Before the celebration even began, the day was grounded in deep spiritual significance. Reagan’s Torah portion was Noah, a story that teaches the importance of staying righteous, kind, and honest — even when the world makes it difficult. It was the perfect portion for him: a reminder that doing the right thing is often the bravest thing. So many of Reagan’s qualities make him indeed a righteous young man.

The ceremony took place at Temple Beth Torah in Wellington, the synagogue where Reagan grew up and even attended preschool. It felt like a full-circle moment for our family — returning to the place that helped shape his Jewish identity. The service was beautifully led by Rabbi Andy Rosenkranz and Cantor Rachel Slusky, who guided Reagan with warmth, humor, and heart. Their presence made the ceremony feel intimate, personal, and deeply meaningful.

One of the most special parts of the morning was when Reagan was entrusted with a centuries-old Torah, a rare and historic scroll he earned the privilege of taking home for the weekend. This honor came after he created a touching and thoughtful drawing and essay inspired by The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. In it, he expressed how children do not naturally see differences in one another — a message he connected to his own experiences visiting Jewish ghettos in Italy and Spain and learning about the expulsion of Jews. His reflections showed maturity, empathy, and a profound understanding of the responsibility that comes with becoming a bar mitzvah.

A Celebration Filled With Love & Intention

What made the evening truly unforgettable was the people who filled the room. Every guest was intentionally chosen — friends from Sunday school, baseball, and school; cousins; aunts and uncles; grandparents; and our closest family. Everyone there genuinely knows who Reagan is at heart. It was the kind of gathering that reminds you why we celebrate milestones like this: to honor tradition, community, and the people who help raise our children.

The Vendors Who Brought the Vision to Life

The venue, Wellington National Golf Club, was the perfect setting — sophisticated, warm, and effortlessly elegant. Scott Joshua Photography captured every emotional moment, including a special pre-shoot to get our family comfortable, while Lennox Visuals created a cinematic video that lets us relive the magic anytime we want.

Tink Blossom Shop brought Reagan’s vision to life with incredible creativity, designing custom coasters, LED light-up centerpieces, a modern seating chart, and customized black-and-white hoodies that guests adored. Their attention to detail made the room feel cohesive and elevated. Our marquee from Sunshine Glow Co. lit up the entrance beautifully, and Pretty House Designs added chic balloon installations that framed the space perfectly.

The interactive photo booth quickly became a fan favorite, giving guests a fun way to capture memories all night long. And to keep the party buzzing, DJ Rich from Babalu brought nonstop energy and kept the dance floor full from start to finish.

One of the most moving moments of the night was the candle-lighting ceremony, made truly magical by Slava Holidays, whose presentation, music, and lighting added warmth and emotion to each tribute.

The food was another highlight. We served passed hors d’oeuvres — pigs in a blanket, egg rolls, and wings — followed by a build-your-own pasta station with all the fixings, plus a slider station with fried chicken sliders, hamburgers, onion rings, and French fries. Dessert was a crowd-pleaser: a delicious Whole Foods cake and a festive ice cream bar that kept both kids and adults coming back for seconds.

A Night We Will Never Forget

Watching Reagan step into this next chapter — standing proudly on the bimah, leading prayers, sharing his reflections, and truly becoming a young man before our eyes — was one of the greatest gifts of our lives. His bar mitzvah was meaningful, heartfelt, modern, and unforgettable. It was everything we hoped it would be: a night rooted in tradition, elevated with creativity, and wrapped in pure joy.

Visit Palm Beach Catamaran Sip N’ Dip Cruise!

Beat the Heat: A Fun-Filled Weekend on the Hakuna Matata Sip ‘N Dip Cruise with Visit Palm Beach

Looking for the perfect weekend escape? Now that the storm has passed and the skies have cleared, it’s time to get out and enjoy some fun in the sun! If you’re in the Palm Beach area, there’s no better way to spend a day than cruising the intracoastal waterways aboard the Hakuna Matata with Visit Palm Beach!! Whether you’re a local or visiting, this 3-hour Sip ‘N Dip cruise is the ideal adventure for families, friends, celebrations or anyone looking to relax, explore, and beat the Florida heat.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing this fantastic excursion, and I can confidently say it was a hit with the kiddos. The trip offered a little something for everyone, from snorkeling and swimming to snacks and tropical drinks. If you’re searching for an exciting yet relaxing way to spend a day in Palm Beach, this cruise should definitely be on your list!

The Adventure Begins

The Hakuna Matata catamaran departs from Downtown West Palm Beach, and as soon as you step aboard, the fun begins. The cruise kicks off with a leisurely ride along Palm Beach Island, offering stunning views of luxury homes and pristine waterfronts. You’ll pass by the Port of Palm Beach as you make your way toward the famous Peanut Island, the day’s ultimate destination for water activities and sunbathing.

As you cruise through the calm waters, there’s plenty of time to soak in the sun, sip on a refreshing cocktail, and take in the sights. The boat’s cash bar offers a variety of tropical drinks and snacks for purchase, so you can relax with a beverage in hand while enjoying the breeze.

Fun in the Water

Once the catamaran anchors near Peanut Island, the real fun begins. This is the perfect spot for swimming, paddleboarding, kayaking, or even testing your skills on the Inflate-a-BULL—a giant inflatable ride that’s sure to entertain kids and adults alike. Their new giant flamingo paid us a visit too, which was a real treat! If you’re in the mood for a more laid-back activity, simply grab a float and relax in the water, letting the gentle waves wash your worries away.

For those who enjoy snorkeling, you’re in luck—Peanut Island is known for its clear waters and vibrant marine life. However, snorkeling is tide and weather-dependent, so while it’s not guaranteed on every trip, it’s always a thrill when the conditions allow. They have a lifeguard on staff and we felt very comfortable making our way around this little lagoon we docked by. Make sure to bring water shoes, bc the floor is full of rocks, shells and sea urchins which can be dangerous. Whether you’re snorkeling or simply paddling around the island, there’s no shortage of ways to cool off and enjoy the water.

Perfect for Families and Friends

One of the best aspects of the Hakuna Matata Sip ‘N Dip cruise is its family-friendly atmosphere. The crew is incredibly welcoming and they do a great job of making sure everyone is comfortable and having a great time. My kids loved the chance to explore the water with the provided floats, they will also give you snorkel gear if you don’t have any and it was the perfect way to spend a sunny afternoon together. Whether you’re an adventurous family or just looking to unwind, this cruise caters to both.

Plan Your Trip

If you’re ready for some fun in the sun, the Hakuna Matata Sip ‘N Dip cruise with Visit Palm Beach is a must-do. With activities for everyone, it’s the ideal way to spend a hot summer day. Just remember, no outside food or drinks are allowed on board, but the boat’s bar has plenty of options to keep you fueled and hydrated throughout the trip. They also have fun charcuterie options, we went for the meat and cheese platter which was the perfect thing to hold us over! Tickets are $69 for adults and $45 for kids! Make sure to place your food and any special drink requests like bottles prior to departure!

So, what are you waiting for? Grab your sunscreen, put on your swimsuit, bring towels and head out for a day of cruising, swimming, and relaxation aboard the Hakuna Matata. Book your next excursion here! You’ll leave with great memories, a sun-kissed glow, and perhaps a new favorite weekend activity. 😎

Once Upon A Stay in Fort Myers…

Once Upon a Perfect Staycation in Fort Myers: A Dreamy Estate Escape

Once upon a time a tired momma, her mom and daughter decided to venture out to the west coast when the hustle and bustle of everyday life got too overwhelming. The perfect remedy was a staycation at Casa Carmen at Hermosa Hacienda hosted by Once Upon A Stay USA! This charming expertly decorated and completely renovated 4-bedroom 4-bathroom estate was the backdrop for a much-needed mini family getaway. We escaped to Fort Myers for 3 nights and four days, just a stone’s throw away from the Miromar outlets, the beach and Naples, offering the perfect blend of convenience and comfort, creating an unforgettable experience for all of us!

A Cozy Home Away from Home

From the moment we arrived, the stunning renovations of the estate took our breath away, the “gatsby-esque” Palm Beach vibes minus the price tag was something that looked like out of a scene from out of “The Notebook.” The space was thoughtfully designed with a perfect mix of modern amenities and cozy charm. The living room, with its inviting fireplace, quickly became our favorite spot for late-night chats and morning coffee, as did the wrap around porch. The open-concept kitchen, fully equipped with everything we needed, allowed us to prepare delicious meals, while still being part of the conversations happening in the adjacent dining and living areas. The property also boasts 2 additional accommodations, a smaller efficiency and “The Coca-Cola” suite, perfect for a guys golfing getaway or a boys weekend.

Space for Everyone

Traveling with my mom, daughter, husband, and son, finding accommodations that offer enough space for everyone can be a challenge. However, this estate exceeded our expectations. Each bedroom was a haven of comfort, with plush bedding and tasteful decor that made us feel right at home. The four bathrooms ensured that no one ever had to wait for their turn, making our mornings run smoothly and efficiently. One of the rooms even had an additional kitchen set up, so if you wanted to bring someone along with dietary restrictions or even a nanny to hang in their own quarters, that’s totally doable!

Relaxation by the Pool

One of the highlights of our stay was undoubtedly the pool. Nestled in the private backyard, it was the perfect spot for a refreshing dip in the afternoon sun. The pool area was surrounded by lush greenery, providing a serene escape where we could relax and unwind. The kids enjoyed ice cream by the pool and swimming, while my mom and I enjoyed lounging on the comfortable poolside chairs enjoying good conversation and the occasional good book.

Close to Everything

Location is key when planning a staycation, and this estate did not disappoint. Being close to the outlets meant that we could indulge in some much-needed retail therapy. We spent an afternoon browsing our favorite stores, finding fantastic deals and enjoying a leisurely lunch. The proximity to the beach allowed for spontaneous trips to the shore, we had morning coffee on Fort Myers Beach, dinner in Captiva and watched the sun set over Sanibel.

A short drive took us to Naples, where we explored the charming boutiques and ate a delicious meal at a local restaurant. The cottage’s convenient location also meant that we were close to Whole Foods Market, making it easy to stock up on fresh ingredients for our home-cooked meals, while relaxing on property.

A Family Gathering

Midway through our stay, my husband and son joined us for a night. It was wonderful to have everyone together in such a beautiful setting. After returning from dinner, we all cozied up, watched The Panther’s game and created memories that will last a lifetime.

Luxurious and Cozy

Casa Hacienda offers all the comforts and amenities you could wish for. It was both luxurious yet cozy, allowing us to enjoy a high-quality staycation without the stress of feeling uncomfortable in a stuffy hotel room.

A Staycation to Remember

Our stay at this beautiful estate in Fort Myers was everything we hoped for and more. It provided the perfect setting for a relaxing and enjoyable weekend, allowing us to connect with each other and take a break from the daily grind. Whether you’re planning a girls’ getaway, a family retreat, or simply need a change of scenery, this charming estate offers an ideal staycation destination. With its cozy ambiance, stunning renovations, and convenient location, it’s a place we’ll definitely return to for future escapes.

A Summer Toast to Tequila Rose!

Come along with me to La Vie en Rose at Palm Beach’s iconic Colony Hotel, who recently played host to an unforgettable happy hour event, marking the start of summer with all the girly flair and excitement! Can we say #barbievibes? The gathering was not just a celebration to the start of the summer season, but also the debut of a unique and refreshing strawberry cream liqueur, Tequila Rose. The hotel, known for its luxurious charm and vibrant atmosphere, provided the perfect backdrop for a fun happy hour filled with fun, flowers and friends!

The event brought together a select group of influencers and content creators, each eager to experience and share the delights of Tequila Rose with their followers. This strawberry cream liqueur, is the official “girls night out” drink, a perfect blend of tequila and luscious strawberry cream, like an elevated strawberry milkshake! P.s. I was a huge fan of strawberry milk growing up and it tasted just like it! Its introduction was met with great anticipation, as it presented a novel twist on traditional tequila offerings. I’m personally looking forward to trying their summer popsicles! (See recipe below!)

We were treated to hors d’oeurves, ice cream, flowers and of course each of us went home with our very own bottle of Tequila Rose, complete with a swag bag full of adorable merch! We were able to mingle, capture Instagram-worthy photos and enjoy a little slice of colony heaven in the VIP veranda just a few steps from the pool against the hotel’s chic, pink- hued facade. Upon arrival to The Colony, we were greeted with the hotel’s signature hospitality, complete with a pink beverage. The highlight of the night was undoubtedly the tasting session of Tequila Rose paired with mini cuban sandwiches, fried coconut shrimp and chocolate covered strawberries. The team truly outdid themselves, ensuring that every sip and bite was a celebration of summer South Florida flavors, making for a magical summer soiree.

The influencers in attendance took full advantage of the picturesque setting and delightful offerings, capturing content for their social media platforms. From TikTok videos showcasing the making of Tequila Rose cocktails to Instagram Stories highlighting the night’s best moments, the event generated a buzz that extended far beyond Palm Beach.

The event was not just about fun and festivities; it also served as an important networking opportunity for us influencers. Many took the time to connect with each other, sharing insights and experiences about our content creation journeys. I shared my new UGCcreatives course alongside my love for Palm Beach Bloggers! The sense of community and collaboration was palpable, reinforcing the idea that such gatherings are crucial for fostering creativity and growth in the digital space. One of my favorite things about this business!

Tequila Rose’s debut at The Colony Hotel’s happy hour was a resounding success, leaving attendees and their followers eagerly anticipating the next opportunity to enjoy this delightful strawberry liquor. The event encapsulated the essence of summer in Palm Beach: vibrant, elegant, and full of joy. As the night drew to a close, it was clear that both the location and the liquor had left an indelible mark on everyone present.

Social media platforms were abuzz with posts and reviews about Tequila Rose and the unforgettable night at The Colony Hotel. The successful blend of an iconic location, a novel product and a community of creative women ensured this happy hour was one for the books, setting a high standard for future summer soirees on Palm Beach. Cheers to Tequila Rose!

The Ben Hotel West Palm Frozen Princess Brunch!

For the first time in forever, V and I made our way over to The Ben Hotel in downtown West Palm Beach for their monthly princess brunch! This month’s theme was Frozen and it was perfect timing for the holiday season! All of our Arendelle friends were there…from Anna to Elsa, Olaf and Christoff!

We were able to snap photos with the whole crew, enjoy freshly made pastries, omelettes, a slew of brunch options from Belgium waffles to bacon and breakfast sandwiches, plus unlimited mimosas and Bloody Mary’s (my fave)! They totally outdid themselves with the DIY bloody bar, from bacon to shrimp, celery, olives, pickles and cucumbers (a first time for that one).

Plus, all the girls went home with little goody bags to include a craft, stamps, bracelets and a necklace! It reminded me so much of how fleeting this time spent with our little ones are and it was the perfect ladies morning to take a step back and relax. Cannot wait for the next one and we hope to see you there!

Palm Beach Restaurants to keep your eye on!

If you’re anything like me, you see dining out as an experience. A time to break bread with the ones you love or grab a bite for a quick business meeting. I’m not talking the run of the mill places that you wouldn’t miss if they closed up shop. This list is carefully crafted with the foodie in mind. The menus made up of salivating and tantalizing dishes you dream about, until you can make it a reality the next time you have a bite. Take it or leave it, I’ve drummed up my tops in Palm Beach County in no particular order, alphabetical in fact so as not to show favorites. So, whether you’re looking for a quickie, a date night or even the chance to explore what eating vegan is like. Bon Appetite.

Buccan Sandwich Shop: Ok, so any Palm Beacher knows all about Buccan, the restaurant…it’s the top of the heap, the best of the best on yelp and the place to see and be seen. But what about its little sister? This quintessential walk-up window with now 2 locations (one on the island and the other in the up and coming el-cid district), makes you feel as if you’ve taken a little trip to Sorrento. Their fresh baked breads are made in house daily and no matter what sandwich you pick, you can’t go wrong! I’ve had the turkey club and the steak bomb, which are both in fact phenomenal, but I have to say the Beef Carpaccio is the one I literally dream about. Carefully constructed to make what would be a casual lunch a tad more fancy, this sammy comes with arugula, parmasean and crispy & balsamic onions. I can’t wait to give the Cubano and the meatball a try next time! Grab your sandwich and plan for a picnic, on your next day out exploring Palm Beach!

Elisabetta’s: Anyone who knows me, knows I love a good Italian meal and it’s no wonder after recently finding out I’m 60% Italian (thanks Ancestry! This is not a plug!) However, I will make a plug for one of the most amazing freshly made pastas and pizzas on this side of Palm Beach. The ambience is a step onto the isle of Capri and the food backs it up. Don’t sleep on their freshly made ricotta on literally any dish and my favorite pasta is the Alla Radiatore. Tuesday’s they serve up an Italian Market Street sandwich that gives many a run for their money and any of their perfectly crafted salads put your homemade ones (at least mine) to literal shame!

Grove Hobe Sound: So staying with the Italian theme, this little, but so mighty restaurant should be on your list if it isn’t yet. Yes, it’s in Hobe Sound, but who doesn’t love a little day trip? It’s located in a totally understated shopping plaza, but the two adorable owners serve up quite the experience. The wife a former blogger and both world travelers, The Reyneri’s open their hearts and their restaurant as if it is their own home. From a wine club to monthly themed dinners, the menu is packed with traditional faves along with some adventurous eats. You’re going to fall in love. We attended one of their monthly wine dinners and it was incredible! From Don’t say I didn’t warn ya!

Jupiter Grille: Now this place may not be an Italian joint, but it sure used to be! The Jupiter Grille underwent a pretty hefty renovation replacing Bravo Cucina at Harborside and opened its doors this summer to offer a modern twist on American Fare. We decided to go for my husband’s birthday and took the kids to this coastal steakhouse and it was quite the treat! We started with the deviled egg flight and tuna sashimi, followed by the mint and pesto crusted lambchop and cauliflower roasted snapper. For sides we opted for the harissa carrots and the “Billionaire Baked,” (ever had caviar on your baked potato? I have! So mouthwatering good!). The kids menu was surprisingly a hefty one and they oped for the amazing mac n cheese which I may or may not have had a few bites of. The night ended with the owner’s secret recipe from grandma, “Captain Crunch bread pudding, peanut butter pie and chocolate layer cake. The hubby washed it all down with an Old Fashion and I opted for the Lavendar Margarita. Cannot wait to come back for their Sunday Brunch, which I hear is a real treat!

Mood Tequesta: Calling all veggie lovers! I don’t know about you, but I think people who eat vegetarian and vegan have to be the MOST creative and believe me when I say Mood is it! When you enter their restaurant it screams Palm Beach, Florida which is exactly my vibe! Adorned with plants and palms at every turn, white wicker bar stools and flowery wallpaper, I feel like I could sit there and curl up with a good book! Mood is for everyone not just those who subscribe to Veganism. We had the hearts of palm tater tots and the macho nachos. So many fun and fruity drinks to choose from and the best part is their happy hour runs daily from 11:30a to 6p, such a great way to celebrate their one year anniversary coming up!

Sushi By Bou: The latest sushi craze is the 12-course Omasake experience and Sushi By Bou has it nailed! Each location has a specific theme, from 80’s hip-hop to gatsby (the Boca location) and typically has limited bar seating. The whole vibe is to have an open mind and tell the chef “I’ll leave it up to you.” This was music to my ears, since I’m always worried about what I’m cooking for dinner. David Bouhadana’s Boca roots run deep and he got his start in the sushi world right here in Palm Beach County, before opening up his multiple locations in NYC, Jersey City, Chicago, Miami and Fort Lauderdale. From yellowtail to tuna, spotted prawn and salmon roe, albacore and charred tuna, scallop, miso cod, fatty tuna, salmon, wagyu uni and eel! Tops for me were the charred tuna, spotted prawn and scallop. The drinks were just as good as the food! I got a tequila, pineapple, dragonfruit called “The Boca Bang,” and “The Lady Marmalade,” made with mezcal, strawberries and jalapeno was a definite hit! Don’t sleep on their mochi ice cream, which made me rethink that I didn’t like mochi and their sake icee dessert. Looking forward to trying the other locations in addition to Alleycat and Sunset Sushi in Boca Raton! Grab your chop sticks and your zest for adventurous cuisine and give it a try!!

On Cloud Wine at Calistoga Motor Lodge & Spa

Sweeping valleys, rolling vineyards and the most exquisite hospitality experience is what you’ll find if you pay a visit to Napa Valley. Just an hour north of the Bay Area of San Francisco, wine country is a must do for a weekend getaway or a special occasion. My husband and I decided to take a trip to the wine capital of the U.S. to celebrate our 12th wedding anniversary! Let’s face it…after doing our best to celebrate our tenth anniversary under COVID restrictions and being under quarantine for almost 3 years with our family, we knew it was just the perfect place to get away from it all.

After extensive research we settled on Calistoga, an adorable little town just north of Napa, known for its wellness and hot springs experiences. We knew we wanted something of a small town feel and away from all the hustle and bustle and The Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa was the absolute perfect place. Located at the beginning of the Silverado Trail, this brand new retro-modern inspired boutique hotel has it all. From beautiful views, several mineral pools at different temperatures, free bike rentals, bocce ball courts and an incredible restaurant  with the most amazing food, called The Fleetwood, not to mention their spa (more on those in a minute). As soon I laid eyes on the property, I knew it was the exact vibe we were looking for and it exceeded our expectations. It’s a laid back, Californian, word of mouth hotel, that doesn’t miss a beat. Inspired by the great American Road trip, their website describes it as, “The classic roadside boutique hotel, but better.” I couldn’t agree more. You can choose from their super nostalgic camper rooms, that are a play on camper vans or their newly renovated vista rooms, complete with balconies overlooking the Vaca mountains, which is what we opted for. Every detail accounted for, every person with a smile on their face. As I sit here writing this, I’m already trying to figure out how to make it back out there.

Coming from Palm Beach, we live in one of the top travel destinations in the U.S., so our standards are pretty high and our trip lived up to them all. Below is an itinerary of our trip. Hope you find value in it.

*We did partner with Calistoga Motor Lodge and Spa, but all opinions are my own.

NAPA VALLEY 12TH ANNIVERSARY TRIP

DAY 1 FRIDAY OCTOBER 7TH

9:25A Est JET BLUE FLIGHT FLL TO SFO

12:30P pst ARRIVE

1:30P TAKE UBER TO GRAB PORSCHE

-We used a company called Turo, it’s sort of like an airbnb for cars. Highly recommend.

2-3P DRIVE TO SAUSALITO & HANG OUT

-We ate at an incredible place on the water called The Joinery. We shared a falafel burger & a beet salad.

3-4:30P DRIVE TO CALISTOGA MOTOR LODGE AND SPA & CHECK IN

-They have the most adorable little lobby and we were welcomed by the staff with open arms!

6P PRISONER WINE DINNER

-Prisoner is not your average winery, it’s modern and sexy and almost counter to what you think a winery should be and we LOVED it. Prisoner Wines is one of our faves and we were thrilled to learn they had a Friday night DJ experience, complete with Chicago style pizza and 2 bottles of wine! Highly recommend making a reservation ahead of time.

DAY 2 SATURDAY OCTOBER 8TH

9:30A- CALISTOGA BIKE RIDE AND BREAKFAST

-We walked around the property some and decided to snag some bikes and ride over to the cutest little cafe called Sam’s General Store. It’s the last standing cottage in its original location built by the founder of Calistoga which was pretty neat! We grabbed a quick bite and a coffee, then headed back to start the day!

10:30A- YOUNTVILLE

-If you like the finer things in life then Yountville is the place to be. A mix of fancy finds and good food, with a  whimsical ambience that’s tough beat. The streets are lined with Michelin starred restaurants and the picturesque scenery is as if you stepped into a time warp. There are so many places to choose from it’s hard to decide where to land, but you can’t go wrong. We walked the town and took in Restoration Hardware (headquartered just outside of San Francisco) and made plans to return later on in our trip.

11:30A- DOMAINE CARNEROS TASTING

-Domaine Carneros is quite the institution. While you can’t really get a “tour” of the vineyard, we enjoyed an amazing sparkling wine and cheese flight al fresco overlooking the incredible Napa Valley. The mansion and view of the valley were quite amazing. Sort of a right of passage.

1:30P- LUNCH AT CELADON

-We made our way to Downtown Napa and walked along the Napa River, where the Napa Mill sits. There are a bunch of cute shops and restaurants. We had lunch at Celadon, the first fine dining establishment in downtown Napa and a locale known for its global comfort food. It’s located inside of the historic Hatt building, which looked like a garage turned restaurant. We sat out on their quaint patio…Michael had  the chuck burger, a cheeseburger with an over medium egg and I had the sweet coconut fried prawns. We grabbed a coffee and at a local cafe and I snagged a cute Napa Sweater at Shoppe 12.

3:30P- CAYMUS WINERY

-A trip to Napa isn’t complete without a visit to Caymus Vineyards. A favorite of Michael’s and myself, this experience is made to feel as if you’re enjoying a glass of wine in the comfort of your own home, while sitting in the backyard. Mr. Caymus himself was on property hosting a senator and while we didn’t see or meet him, we did feel like we were hanging out at his house. Truly memorable.

8:30P- FLEETWOOD CALISTOGA

-We decided to mosey on back to our resort and enjoy the mineral pools and just relax, which with 2 kids we almost never get to do. After that we got ready for dinner at Fleetwood Calistoga on Calistoga Motor Lodge’s property…serving up Italian and wood fired mediteranean food. We started with the fried olives and marcona almonds and then had the striploin steak with and gnocchi, roasted garlic, maitake mushrooms, snap peas and truffle balsamico for dinner which was the perfect meal after a great day!

DAY 3 SUNDAY OCTOBER 9TH

9:30A BRUNCH AT FLEETWOOD CALISTOGA

-We started the day off at the place right where we left off. Fleetwood Calistoga serves up the most decadent weekend brunch from 8a-1p, with so many speciality drinks and items to choose from! Coffee and bloody Marys to start. We decided to share the fried chicken and waffles and the Edgar’s chilequiles, which after sitting next to the most adorable local couple is I guess a thing in the area. It’s packed with red chili salsa, chicken, corn tortilla, pepper jack cheese and slow-cooked eggs! My mouth’s watering just thinking about it! Highly recommend!

10:45A SPA TREATMENTS AT MOONACRE SPA

-Cake, bake, rinse and relax! That’s the motto over at the Moon Acre Spa located right on property! Right after brunch, we got changed and moseyed on over for the works, otherwise known as the MoonAcre Mud Bake, Bath and Massage and this 2 hour historic ritual was just what the doctor ordered. The spa itself is reminiscent of an 1880’s Calistoga bath house, where community and good vibes are their motto! We started with a really nice, relaxing soak in a clawfoot tub, filled with geothermal water and re-mineralizing lavender bath salts, we then dried off and made our way to the outdoor “mud bar,” for a sponge exfoliation and a painted mineral-rich body mud mask! We relaxed in the beautiful Calistoga sun under the lush landscape and umbrellas in the spa garden, then rinsed off in the outdoor shower, followed up by a steam, then finished with a 60 minute full body massage. The experience was unlike any other we have ever done and the best part is you don’t even have to stay on property to take advantage of this signature self care ritual! I call that a win win!

4P ROBERT CRAIG WINERY

-We left the afternoon open, so we could see what came as a recommendation to us. One of the sommeliers at Prisoner said to check out Robert Craig Winey and we are so glad we did. It was a spur of the moment choice that left a lasting impression. You may have noticed their small lot wines harvested from Summit Mountain at some restaurants you frequent. We visited their tasting salon at a little bungalow located in the heart of downtown Napa. They made some last minute accommodations for us and were so incredibly knowledgeable and sweet. It was as if we were sitting in someone’s living room enjoying good conversation and wine. If you’re looking for a local, personalized experience, this is it!

5:30 OXBOW MARKET

-We did a quick pop by before heading back to Yountville, because we had heard a bunch about this food hall. From oysters to cupcakes, pizza to deli, this place is feast for the senses and a great place if you just can’t decide what to have. From a little marketplace and both outdoor, indoor and bar seating, Oxbow is quite the little scene and I snagged a little focaccia after our tasting.

6P REGIS OVA

-If you know anything about Napa the culinary experiences are just as important as the vino. While the critically acclaimed, top of the heap Chef Thomas Keller’s French Laundry didn’t have an availability (they open up reservations at the beginning of the month and fill up pretty quickly), we were able to snag an exclusive experience at their sister pop-up thanks to a recommendation from a friend who used to be a chef at TFL. Regiis Ova is the lounge of all lounges. Wether you choose to sit inside their swanky indoor or outdoor lounge, you can’t go wrong. The live music and champagne is just flowing and so are the good times. RS is known for as the “Ultimate Caviar Experience.” With a few fan favorites of the French Laundry Menu and some newer items, this experience was a MUST! We got the pigs in a blanket featuring Hobbs Pork Sausage, Brioche and a Dijonaise Aioli. This fun treat will never be the same for me. We followed that up with the most awesome play on tater tots…They were these mini Yukon gold potato croquettes, with Hobbs bacon Creme Fraiche and Classic Caviar. Those two paired with some bubbly was a party for our tastebuds!

7:45P R+D Kitchen

-We chose to eat here, because it came recommended to use by some locals and the name of the restaurant happens to be the initials of our son! No matter what you’re in the mood for R+D has it! Hubby got the Kyuri Maki Roll, packed with tuna, seasoned rice, wrapped in cucumber with trout row and I opted for some comfort food with the chicken meatballs and spaghetti, featuring sweet & poblano peppers, tomato sauce and Reggiano.

DAY 4 MONDAY OCTOBER 10TH

We drove through Sonoma and headed back home. We did stop at this amazing breakfast joint called Basque Boulangerie. A fresh croissant filled with eggs, ricotta, pesto and tomato was the perfect end to an incredible trip. Our first time to Napa was definitely one for the books and one we will cherish for the rest of our lives. If you’ve been on the fence about booking a trip, here’s your sign to just do it! Choose The Calistoga MotorLodge and Spa as your place to put your fit up and chill, you’ll be glad you did! Cheers!

Our Journey to Jekyll Island Club Resort

Imagine being transported to another time. A time long before you existed. Engulfed in live oak trees as far as the eyes can see, moss hanging from every branch, horse drawn carriages lining the roads, entrenched in a rich history beyond imagination. There’s a place off the coast of Georgia just over 90 miles south of Savannah, called Jekyll Island. Only accessible by bridge, a land surrounded by water, lined with homes dating back to the 1800’s, where even the beaches seem to have left behind some stories worth telling.

The Jekyll Island Club Resort is a place where the most prominent members in American culture came to escape, to share good times and get away from the hustle and bustle since 1888. Names like Rockefeller, Pulitzer and J.P. Morgan to name a few, would winter here at a time when it was known as a hunting club. The entire location feels like you’ve immersed yourself into the Gilded Age, a season that seemed a bit simpler. The club was abandoned after WWII and there are several buildings on property that still have yet to be refurbished with some chilling tales (one of my favorite parts). The hotel was revamped back in 1984 and has since been on the register of “Historic Hotels of America,” since 1994.

The Jekyll Island Club Resort is famed for the first ever transcontinental call from inventor Alexander Graham Bell between Jekyll Island, New York City, Washington D.C. and San Francisco. The hall of mirrors are lined with historic photos, the walls are a rich mahogany and the fire places have a vibe you can only feel.

My family and I first discovered Jekyll earlier this year on a stop to Asheville thanks to a friend. It was only a pit stop on our road trip, knowing there was much left to explore and we just couldn’t wait to come back. We were ecstatic to be able to visit again this summer in early July. Upon pulling up to The Jekyll Island Club Resort, once you pass the darling cottages that were once homes to families, you can’t help but notice the top of the building and it’s circular turret for which the building is famed. A remarkable structure that has undergone recent renovations and a darling place to enjoy some family time. With 6 places to eat, 2 pools, beach access and the option to stay in either the cottages, the beachside or the building itself, there’s something for everyone. Our family dined at The Wharf on the dock where much of the island’s business took place back in the day. The seafood was fresh and the service was friendly. A view of the port and the ships were stunning and the live music didn’t hurt either. We then made our way to the Lobby Bar, where we played some board games and sat in the rich leather seats, while a movie was playing in the background overlooking the gorgeous pool from the Riverfront Veranda. The room itself was amazing and featured a fireplace and a veranda to enjoy the view of the grounds and visitors could enjoy a game of croquet (a famed 1900s summer game).

The following morning we enjoyed an exquisite breakfast in the Grand Dining Room, that had a striking resemblance of the Titanic and we walked the grounds to discover the cottages you can stay in for reunions or just dive a little deeper into the history of the island. We made our way past an abandoned casino, where I’m sure many a good times were had and a home that no matter how many times they attempt to renovate it, the ghosts who still live there seem to destroy any progress made. From the sweet shoppe, to the art shoppe, to the turtle rehab center (the only one in GA), there’s so much to do on the historic district grounds, accessible by bike, foot or even trolley.

We made our way over the beach side, past the village where things are a little more updated. At the Jekyll Ocean club there’s an updated pool, with rooms to stay in oceanside and a restaurant. We opted to hang by the beach for a few before ending the day with a picnic on Driftwood Beach, a place where eroded soil was unable to support the trees and is now a breathtaking beautiful backdrop for a town with 3500 years of history left to be explored.

If you’re even thinking about visiting The Jekyll Island Club do it and if this is the first time you’ve heard of it, then you’re welcome. We had quite experience in just 24 hours and cannot wait to pay a visit again sometime soon. Be sure to check out our adventure in a new reel over on IG! Hope you enjoy it!
